Our new house guest

Drew and I are currently fixing up our condo in order to sell (more on this later). Anyway, since I am trying to keep the yard looking nice, I replanted my hanging flower baskets 2 weeks ago. In this process, I noticed that one of the baskets had a bird nesting in it. Since there were no eggs, I put the nest in the garbage and planted flowers without too much guilt. Well the mama bird that I displaced had the final word, and she now has a lovely new nest surrounded by purple flowers. I think that she appreciates the remodeled the nursery.

She was very tolerant of me taking pictures until I rotated the basket. After she finally flew away, I found this...

Now she gets to stay because I cannot evict an expectant mother, but it makes watering complicated.

Atempted Abduction on the Rillito

This picture is a rendering of a man that tried to abduct a woman from the Rillito River trail last Thursday. The woman escaped because her pit bull tackled the guy. The the full story is in the Arizona Daily Star. I run on this trail at least 3-4 times/week, and usually closer to the evening. This terrifies me. Although I love my dogs, I am not sure that either one of them would have in the ability to take down a 160 pound person that was tyring to harm me. That being said if you happen to come across this blog and use the Rillito trail, particularly on the West side, please watch out for this guy. Alternatively, let me know if you want a running buddy.

YUCK

Unfortunately, I do not have anything more interesting to write about than the level of hell that is thesis revising. My latest draft contained a "YUCK" in the left margin (I will spare you the photographic evidence). Rather than simply complaining some more, I could go on about how great my run was yesterday and how I timed it perfectly so I was running into the sunset on my return leg, but that is also not so interesting. So until I graduate, and I have something more to write about other than how my soul is being crushed by my dissertation, these posts are going to be sparse.

The FIX is in

Before

I just finalized another chapter of my dissertation! Moreover, the comments have been getting better. I have graduated from "GAK" to "FIX". At least my advisor thinks my writing is becoming fixable.

After
