Bye Adam and Ahnie
My brother and his girlfriend got back from Mexico Saturday night and spent the rest of the weekend with us. It was great having them here. They made coffee, fed us and even did the dishes. If you know how much my brother HATES doing dishes, and how we used to have violent fights growing up regarding whose turn it was to do them, you would understand how generous this is. Yesterday, we drove up to Windy Point on Mt Lemmon, and then went to lunch. It was great spending time with them and watching them play with Miles.
Here are some photos from the Mt. Lemmon.
Bath Number 3
Yes, I know that Miles is now 5 weeks old and he has only had 3 baths. This includes the one at the hospital right after he was born. In our defense, Drew and I have not been bathing much either, and I do not think that Miles does much to get dirty that is not immediately cleaned up in other ways. Anyway, here are some pictures.
I think he is beginning to enjoy bathing. This time there were no tears. And after the bath...

Happy 1 Month Birthday Miles
To celebrate Miles being 1 month old we took him to work with us today. Overall, it went well. We were there for a little under 6 hours and Miles was a trooper. It certainly was not my most productive day of work, but I have also had days where I got less done. A few work days that involved 2-3 hour long beer lunches were certainly less productive.
In other news, last Friday I started jogging again (don't worry Mom - I am not doing anything heroic). So far I am taking it easy and only running a few slow half mile intervals separated by epochs of walking, nonetheless it feels great.

Pictures from the past few days
We took Miles with us to Sabino Canyon when Pop Pop was here. It was a little "buggy", so we didn't stay long, but we managed to get out and about.
One of our very kind neighbors was gracious enough to let us borrow the "magic swing" with enough unique features to keep a baby sleeping for hours!Pop Pop and Miles before Pop Pop left.
A recent development... Miles discovered that he can suck his thumb. Both Mom and Dad were thumb suckers, so this kid doesn't stand a chance.

Pop Pop comes to visit
Pop Pop made it to Tucson yesterday!Miles and I greated Pop Pop at the door.
Miles can now see close distances. Here he is inspecting Pop Pop. Grandma (or is it Mommo, the opposite of Poppo?) looks on from the background.
Miles is a lucky guy. He had many adults looking after him. Here are some of them. Another reason he's lucky? It has been over 100 years since a child was born in my family with both grandfathers alive. Well here is a picture with both grandfathers and a grandmother (my mom was unable to make the cross country trip)! Moreover, he has a great-grandmother!
You don't get to leave here without doing some work!
Pop Pop with his new buddy. I tried to get a "caught sleeping" picture, but Pop Pop is too quick! He woke up both times he heard the camera turning on... but there is always tonight

The Weekend
My Dad was back in Tucson this weekend, which was great but unfortunately I had to work on manuscript revisions. Blah! This interfered with our hiking plans. We did manage to take Miles over to our friends Kim and Jeremy's house. It was so much fun to see their kids Abbey, Mason and Parker interact with Miles. All of them were so sweet and Parker (the youngest) even shared his beloved blanket. We got some great pictures and Kim made us an amazing Mexican dinner. Thanks Bohnes!
As you may have guessed Drew and I are both starting to get back to work. This means that the frequency of our posts will be slowing down a bit, but we still try to get some news Miles pics posted every few days.

Happy 3 Week Birthday Miles
Part of me cannot believe that Drew and I have been parents for 3 weeks already while the rest of me thinks, "if it has only been 3 weeks, then why do I feel like I have not slept in a year". Overall, Miles is doing great. He is now sleeping in his nursery at night. This has improved his sleeping a little bit because we can leave a light on for him (he is calmer when the room is not completely dark). It has also made it so Drew can stay up late with Miles and give him a bottle before putting him to sleep, which gives me a head start on getting some rest. In exchange when I get up with Miles to nurse during the night Drew can continue to sleep. This is particularly important because Miles is the noisiest baby ever. He constantly grunts and makes growling noises, even in his sleep. When he nurses he makes little piggy snorting noises and even yelps at times. It is really cute but makes sleeping difficult.
In other Miles' news, he has quite the bad breakout of newborn acne right now. I guess that as the hormones infants were exposed to in utero leave their system (around week 3) they get zits. It is not the most attractive thing but should clear up in a week or two. We still think he is adorable but admittedly it does make him less photogenic.

The Bear Outfit!
Its a little warm here, but we decided to put Miles in this outfit. Probably, not his favorite 5 minutes, but it was certainly fun!
Unhappy little cubBear cub swipe
"Why? I'm so little and you're so big. You placed me in this outfit and now you are laughing at me. Why?"
So sad!

Somewhat placated
Oh- the bear outfit! How awesome! He may not find it funny, but we certainly do. It makes up for the sleep deprivation.
