April 30th - Mom finally posts something
Here is our friend Lan pointing out that "its a baby"! This picture is actually from Monday, but I have not been online much to post so I am behind.
Miles did not let me sleep much last night again. I think I got two sleep epochs of about 1 1/2 hours each. This may have been payback for the circumcision. If so, fair enough. That process hurts my feelings. Drew and I have agreed that if for some odd reason the foreskin grows back (the pediatrician said this can happen on the rare occasion), it wins and gets to stay.
This morning, Drew had a CT scan so my mom watched Miles for about 5 hours. This meant that it was the little guy's first opportunity to eat from a bottle, which was fed to him by Grandma with love. I managed to pump just enough breast milk to last him the morning. My mom said that at first Miles was not used to the milk coming out so quickly so he made quite a mess. By the second feeding he had it down, however. That is a learning curve that makes his parents proud. Otherwise, Miles had a great morning. As his Grandma says, "he is a happy guy with a full belly". He also breastfed just fine after getting the bottle and it did not interfere with his latch at all, which is something I was worried about. Good Baby!
When we got back, I took Miles for a walk around the neighborhood. I am hoping that some sun exposure will help get his circadian rhythm up and running.
Here is Miles on the open road.
In other news today, Miles' first pair of sunglasses arrived! Drew was worried that the bright sun would give the little guy headaches, like he got when he first moved to Tucson. I am not sure what Miles is going to think of them, but hopefully he will learn to tolerate the shades.
By the way, I do not have "baby fever". One baby is plenty to handle for the time being. I blame the conversation that Drew posted on the "maternal glow", which for me was created by a combination of hormones, percocet and a glass of wine. I am making less crazy talk now that I am starting to ween of the pain meds.
